Limited Capacity filling up

Statistics from the National Cancer Institute from 2016, estimated that there were 15.5 million cancer survivors in this country with an expectation of 1.7 million newly diagnosed people with cancer in 2018. It is likely that a person who is newly diagnosed, in cancer treatment or post cancer treatment is a participant in your Yoga classes. The need is great to offer Yoga to people with cancer that is accessible and safe, whether it be in a Yoga studio or medical setting. This class, both lecture and practice, is aimed at offering basic education for Yoga teachers interested in learning more about how to make Yoga accessible to people with cancer safely and wisely. The YCat approach is based on meeting people where they are and adapting concepts and offering education rather than scripting asanas for a particular diagnosis. Awareness, Breath and Movement, guided imagery in healing, relaxation, meditation, Yoga philosophy and the art of teaching will be discussed for use across the cancer continuum.
