How do we replicate social bias - even in our yoga studios and classes - and how can we do better? Why is it that so many yoga classes have homogenous clientele even though teachers claim often (and sometimes loudly) that everyone is welcome? What do we mean by "everyone?"

This session will use storytelling and interactive discussion to explore the concept of "welcome," how unconscious bias influences each of us, and how both segregation and diversity can be GOOD things in a yoga class, as long as they're consciously constructed environments. We'll also discuss how to shift the overall culture of U.S. yoga practice toward practice environments that feel accessible to people of all appearances and backgrounds.
